HORSEBACK CAMP
AT CAMP ALTA MONS
The Resident Horseback unit will particpate in all aspects of horsemanship including: grooming, stable maintenance, feeding, tacking, corral and trail riding on a daily basis. The week is designed to teach campers with an interest in horses basic horsemanship skills. Our experieced horse staff will help each camper progress to being able to care for and ride a horse on their own.
In addition, the unit will particpate in activites like swimming, ropes/challenge courses and daily worship. Like the Jr/Sr high units, the Horseback unit lives in a rustic hogan where they will be close to the horses and particpates in preparing meals in their outdoor kitchen.
This unit combines the experience of the canoe/kayak outing with the resident horseback program. Particpants will spend most of their time learning horsemanship skills and also incoporate training on canoe skills to prepare them for their day trip out. Particpants should know how to swim and be familar with horses.
