Alta Mons hosts a large number of group retreats from SW Virginia and abroad. A group retreat can be a simple one night, cook your own food event. Or your group can stay for a week or more and let us do all the cooking. Retreats often include a challenge/ropes course event facilitated by our well trained, highly experienced staff. We have four year-round retreat facilities and a number of three season and seasonal accomodations. Many provide a kitchen, meeting room and beds for a self contained retreat or you can have full food service in our dining hall. With various facilities and facility combinations available to host groups up to about a hundred, Camp Alta Mons (if booked far enough in advance) can accommodate a great variety of groups. Do you need help planning your retreat, ask our staff to help guide you through the process of organizing your event.
Hotel-style accommodation for
retreat groups, conferences and large family gatherings. Sit in a
rocking chair on the deck of this modern 51-bed facility and watch the
fish play in the pond, or just relax and read a book. 
24 bedrooms (21 rooms have 2 single beds, a bath is shared by two
rooms, 3 rooms have 1 bunk and 1 single) with individual heat controls,
fully equipped kitchen, deck, rocking chairs. 1 bedroom and bathroom is
Handicap accessible. Upper level large meeting room with a piano, gas
fireplace, round tables and padded chairs, lectern, TV/DVD/VCR, phone
(local). Lower level meeting room with kitchenette, TV/VCR,
refrigerator, white board, lectern, tables and chairs. Meeting rooms
have AC/Heat.
Cook your own meals in the complete kitchen, or join us in the dining
hall for delicious, wholesome, buffet style meals. All rooms include
linens (towels, wash cloth, sheets, blankets and pillow).
In the “back
400” is a renovated old farmhouse that we have turned into a great
retreat facility for youth or adult groups. The house comfortably
accomodates 26 max for short 
term
retreats and smaller groups of 20 persons for extended periods of time.
Enjoy solid wood bunk style beds and two "leaders" rooms with two
single beds. Other amenities are a modern kitchen, three full baths,
and a large meeting room with gas fireplace, TV DVD, VCR and 8 6ft
tables and chairs. Scroll over the pictures to see more
of the house. This is an awesome place to bring your
group. You will commonly see deer grazing in the lawn, find plenty of
room to run and play, have outdoor devotions around the fire pit,
cookout in the charcoal grill provided, sit in rocking chairs on the
front porch or even pitch tents around the house if your group should
exceed the bed space. Required minimum of 10 overnight guests to rent
the house. Note: Linens are not included, but are available
for cost/per set (towels, wash cloth, sheets, blankets and pillow)
Carter
CottageThe convenience of a three bedroom,
two bath house, the serenity of this beautiful valley nestled in the
mountains, and a sleeping capacity of 10-12 persons makes the Carter
Cottage the ideal choice for families and other small groups.
A beautiful wood-clad
ranch-style cottage suitable for small groups and families. 4 bedrooms, 2 full
bathrooms.The master bedroom
has a
queen size bed (queen
sheets included, dresser,
closet space and master bathroom. Bedroom 2 contains 2 adult size
bunk-beds,
drawers and closet space. Bedroom 3
contains 1 adult-size bunk bed, drawers and closet space.
Bedroom 4 contains a trundle bed and closet
space. The cottage also has a fully
equipped kitchen, 2 dining tables and chairs, sleeper sofa, rocking
chairs, TV/DVD/VCR.
Laundry facilities. Grill provided. Heated but not air conditioned.
The "Wellspring" retreat cabin is
available for solo or duo retreats. Wellspring is an all weather,
handicap accessible, self contained cabin with a single bed and pull
out double sofa and a small study/chapel. This cabin is nestled in the
woods near the center of the camp. This is a favorite of ministers and
those seeking a personal retreat in a comfortable setting. Handicap
accessible.
