Thank
you for your interest in summer employment with Camp Alta Mons. Alta Mons hires
approximately 40 staff each summer. This is a mixture of college students, local
persons, high school students, and volunteers. We are looking for qualified
persons who have a heart for mentoring youth. Some positions are full summer
and some can be day to day or weekly volunteers.
Why volunteer? Serving in ministry is voluntary. The summer is a mission experience that is rewarding in many wonderful ways. Through the staffing experience you will learn many life skills in social, spiritual, emotional, leadership and physical aspects of life. Staff often say that being a counselor or working at a camp for the summer is the hardest and most rewarding job they have had. As a cabin counselor with a group or a support staff person, you have a unique opportunity to have fun, make lasting friendships, grow spiritually and most importantly share in the lives of children and youth. Small group camping, like our life with Christ, is about forming a relationship. The activities may be fun, but with you, they can become a great and lasting memory! Where else can you get hired to play games, camp in the beauty of God's creation, eat great food, and mentor youth? Whether you have a full summer or only a day, we need Christian people with youthful spirits to make the summer camp special.
Do I get paid? What is a Stipend? We recognize that for many people to make an extended commitment, some form of monetary compensation means the difference between serving and not. A stipend is a monetary compensation generally given when other value added compensations are part of the package. Stipends are generally lower than other salaries because of additional compensations. Alta Mons is committed to providing the best possible program for the campers and staff. We offer, free room and board, certifications, leadership trainings, spiritual development through guided Bible studies and Christian Community. Staff are asked to raise half of their salary and Alta Mons will match that amount for a full summer stipend.
